Rain's Bike Story

It was a normal weekday afternoon. The weather was nice and cool and so I decided to take Rain out for a walk to get some fresh air. It was just me and Rain. Walking while holding hands. It was a nice day, it was a peaceful walk. Then it happened...Our 1+ year old twin neighbors passed by with their yayas pushing them in these Mickey Mouse tricycles with push handles.

Upon seeing the twins, Rain got all excited! You can see the spark in her eyes. She was in love. Not with the twins, but with the Mickey bike!

Twin 1: Uh.... what's she doing with my bike?

She immediately ran up to them to play with the Mickey squeaky toy installed on the bike's handle bar, frightening the twins hehehe. Apparently the twins are shy around girl babies.

Twin 2: Take whatever you want, just please don't hurt me!

After a while I took Rain away from the twins so they could continue their stroll.

Of course she started crying. A crying that I have never heard before. (See video). She kept saying "car! car!" (referring to the bikes). It's like she lost something she dearly loved. So I had Rain's ladybug car brought out so she would also have something to ride.

By this time, the twins were already down the road and because Rain wanted so much to go see the nice bikes again, she tried catching up to them while pushing her lady bug car with her feet as fast as she can. But the lady bug car can only do so much. And the rough pavement wasn't helping either. My heart broke while watching her cry while trying to catch up to them :-(

So before things got ugly, I picked her up and told her we're going inside. But she wouldn't have it. That's when she started crying (See video).  She kept calling out "Mickey! Mickey!" I have never seen her cry like that. Like she was really really emotionally hurt. Like a loved one was leaving her for good. I took a video of her because I wanted to show Richie when he got home.

I was able to take her inside. After a while she stopped crying. Then out of the blue, it was like she would remember the bikes then would start crying again and call Mickey out again. She really really wanted that bike. I could feel it. It wasn't just something that she liked just because. Period. So I pick up the phone to call Richie...

Me: Hun, I want to buy Rain a bike with a push handle
Richie: Why? But she already has that motorized car from her bito and bita. Let's not spend too much. She has too many toys already.
Me: (Told him the story)
Richie: (still sounding hesitant) Let's talk about it nalang when I get home.

By the sound of his voice I could tell that he was going to talk me out of it. So anyway after a few hours, he comes home. Then I showed him the video. After literally 3 seconds of watching Rain's cry, he goes....

"Sige hun, bilan mo na bukas." (Okay hun, buy her one tomorrow.).

Tiklop si daddy! I found it funny hehehe.

So the following day I head to the mall to look for a nice push bike for her. And guess what I saw? The exact same Mickey bike!

So after buying, I picked up Richie from work and then we surprised her! See what she does with her new bike in the video :')

Ever since that day, Rain and her bike has been inseparable...

She lets her dolls ride her bike

Watches TV on her bike
Sits on the wheels  to make space for her dolls on the main seat, again while watching TV

Wearing her favorite shades during her afternoon bike rides...

And finally....

She is now able to join the twins every afternoon for a ride without harassing them hahaha!

This is the story why I we think this bike is one of the best purchases we made. The smile on her face every time she gets on her bike is priceless!

    1. Hi! Parang P2,800. Mahal na bikes ngayon I guess :-( It's really nice especially for morning / afternoon walks :-) Hindi ma-bobore yung bata kahit naka upo lang sya. And when your kid is bigger na, you can take out the handle and the foot rest so it becomes a kid's tricycle na talaga :-) Kaya sulit yung P2,800 :-) Got it at SM dept store

  7. Oh I'm such a cry-mommy, kahit commercial iniiyakan ko. And this surely made me cry. I felt the pain in baby Rain's crying, as if it was the only thing that mattered to her -- Mickey bike...and oh it was pure love. And oh how I sensed that pure joy in her heart when she finally saw that bike (again), as if she has been reunited with the love of her life. So wonderful. For any parent, nothing beats the joy and that feeling of blessedness seeing your child having that unexplainable joy in her heart.

  10. Oh, my goodness! Ganyan din sa amin. Whenever me and my 1 year-old baby girl walk around the neighborhood, there's always those babies sitting on their lovely bikes and their yayas are the ones looking after them. My little girl, Agnes, still hasn't reached to the point where she cries na pag may nagustuhan at hindi naibigay, but she is showing some signs that she also wanted a bike kasi gusto nyang sakyan yung bike ng kuya nya. Well anyways, we had so many similarities like by the time my first son was born, we were so broke and the diapers we got as gifts from his ninongs/ninangs were like gold to us. Well, I do believe the Lord gives us what we need and He knows exactly when we need it just like He gave you your beautiful daughter. I'm sure Rain will have a wonderful life because she has parents like you, two. Well, I really enjoyed reading your posts (about Rain or about food) and I look forward to reading your future posts. May you have more blessings to come.

    1. Thank you so much Mona! Ah yes she's still 1 so she doesn't really care yet :-) It's amazing how gifts and presents don't really matter anymore except when they're gifts for your children :-) I always get excited whenever someone gives Rain any gift :-) I appreciate it more when I receive stuff for her :-) Thanks so much for your kind words! And may you and your family also have more blessings in the years to come! :-)

  13. I wouldn't know what I'd do if my little girl cries the way like baby Rain did. Naiiyak ako sa iyak ni baby Rain. So happy she got one. All I could say when she hugged the bike was "awwwww". Hoping it won't happen to me though, student lang ako eh I can't buy something agad agad lalo na kung the next day ang usapan. hahaha
