What made our family trip to Hong Kong Disneyland extra extra extra special is that we stayed in Disneyland Hollywood Hotel! I thought it was just going to be a nice hotel with Mickey Mouse all over. But it was more than that. Like the Disney animations and theme parks, there's that feeling of magic! (Thank you mom and dad for treating us here!!!!)
I am especially amazed at how they thought of making a more affordable hotel (well, more affordable compared to Disneyland Hotel) and thought of a theme that's less formal but just as spectacular: Hollywood! The Disneyland Hollywood Hotel takes it's theme to heart with all the Hollywood details, down to the font, gives you an old Hollywood feel.
We arrived at Hollywood Hotel early so we checked in first. This is the desk. Very colorful with Hollywood murals in the background.
The lobby is filled with happy kids running around! If you notice, the place is not overdone with Mickey Mouse. That's what I like about it. It still sticks to it's Hollywood theme, but if you look hard you will still find Mickey everywhere!
On each end of the lobby, you will find Mickey statues!
And right near the front desk there's a couch in front of a TV where they play Disney cartoons all day. So the kids can sit and watch while waiting. Or in this case, kids and grandfather. Hehehe :-)
So because it was still early to check in to our rooms, we left our tons of luggage in the luggage storage right beside the entrance. They gave us a number, and then off we went to Disneyland theme park which is just a free 5 minute shuttle ride away.
But this post is about the Hollywood Hotel, so let's go to the huge backyard. You'll see Hollywood stars embedded on the floor, and palm trees like the ones along Hollywood Rodeo Drive.
This is their pool area. The entrance looks like an old jukebox! We didn't get to swim because we wanted to spend most of our time in Disneyland Park. Plus it rained frequently when we were there. So I wanted to go in and just take photos....
... But the entrance to the pool had a water curtain. So I couldn't go inside without getting wet haha!
But I was able to take a photo from outside the fence.
Further back, you'll see the big Hollywood Hotel sign situated on top of a small hill where kids can run and play.
I also saw what looks like a mini amphitheater. But from the looks of it this looks like a Pool bar?
The Disneyland Hollywood Hotel is actually pretty huge. But it's so pretty that it's not surprising that it gets fully booked.
The Guestroom elevators can be found at each end of the lobby halls.
Even the simple elevator ride to your floor gives you a magical Disney experience. Once you ride the elevator and you finally reach your floor, you'll hear Mickey's voice say "Here ya go! The 3rd floor! Enjoy your stay! Haha!" as if he's personally operating the elevator to take you to your floor. And then Rain would always always respond "It's Mickey!!! It's Mickey!!!" before stepping off our floor. So cute!
The hallways are wide. With colorful carpets that have circle patterns where you can find hidden mickeys!
I love the door details. Made me feel like I was entering an old Hollywood hotel
And here's the beautiful standard room!
There's a nice Mickey and Minnie metal photo in between the bed's headboards.
I love how it comes with 4 pairs of Mickey bedroom slippers for the whole family that you can take home (it says so in the bag). One for Richie, one for me, and 2 for Rain hehe.
By the small table on the corner, there's a folder with Disney stationary sets, post cards, and a copy of the Hollywood Express "newspaper". So cute! I took these home too. And I don't think I have the heart to write on them.
These simple stripe metal details are so elegant and Hollywood-ish! It can be seen everywhere.
In the mini bar...
... and the bathroom sink...
Here's the bathroom door. Love the full length mirror!
Toiletries (yes I took home all of them haha!). Inside Mickey cup are 3 other cups *total of 4) and then 2 toothbrushes, some toothpaste, earbuds, etc.
The shower / bathtub
The shower curtains also have simple shapes and lines with one huge not-so-hidden Mickey!
My little Rainbow was too hyped up on all the Disney magic to sleep hahaha! (Please excuse the messy-ness. I'm going to play the Tired tourist card)
As mentioned, we really didn't get to explore the hotel that much because we were always at Disneyland Park. But we were able to pass by a small game room called Malibu Games with arcade games.
Our first night there, we ate at Studio Lounge. Among all the other restaurants here, this one had the more adult feel with its dim lighting with neon lights and a bar at the middle. What we had coming in a different post.
And then for breakfast, we had breakfast buffet at Chef Mickey. This restaurant screams classy diner! But the most fun part is that you get your chance to take a photo with Chef Mickey! He's always by the entrance waiting to take a photo with you. Upon entering, they will give your group a photo stub which is your ticket to take a picture with Chef Mickey! Just give your photo stud to the photographers when you're done eating so your group can take a photo with Chef Mickey. I love their organizing skills. This way, lining up to take a photo is not chaotic since every kid wants to take pictures with Mickey. Anyway more on this soon on a separate post.
And then the other one is Hollywood and Dine, which has a more canteen feel. It's the smallest among all. But we didn't get to eat here.
We only bought a yummy sandwich for Rain.
There's also Piano Pool Bar and Sunset Terrace but both are temporarily closed until further notice
Would I go back to Disneyland Hollywood Hotel? MOST DEFINITELY! If you take Disneyland Park seriously, the convenience of being in the same area as the theme park is a huge plus. I think if the whole point of your Hong Kong trip is for the kids to enjoy, then most definitely save a little more extra on either of the Disney Hotels.
|Watching some Mickey Mouse classics!|
And if you're a child at heart who can be obsessed with Disney, it's thrilling to think that once you leave the park at night, the magic of Disney will still be waiting for you when you get back to your hotel room!
