Whenever I go to a Spanish restaurant, Richie knows me so well that he knows I would order Salpicao as default. I can't help it. I like salty garlicky stuff. So when he tried Alqueria Tapas, Paellas y Bistecas in Mega Fashion Hall, he told me I had to try their Salpicao! So one afternoon while Rain was busy sliding and running around Active Fun, I went with friends to have some Me Time in Alqueria!
Alqueria Tapas, Paellas y Bistecas (formerly Boqueria ) is a new Spanish Restaurant located at the 3rd floor of Mega Fashion Hall. With its kitchen headed by Executive Chef Chris Oronce, you're sure to be in good hands. He has actually served in Mesa Grill at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, where he so luckily got to work with Celebrity Chef, Bobby Flay.
As soon as you enter, their open kitchen will be the first to greet you. And I've always believed that a restaurant with an open kitchen has nothing scary to hide!
Inside, the interior is classy and intimate. Perfect for dates and even business dinners. Or just a night out with the girls! Let's head on to the food!
Starting with the Tapas! This Salpicao (P445) is very flavorful. Perfect to pair with garlic rice! I practically finished the thing!
Next is my favorite. The Queso Fundido (P210) is a delicious and creamy Manchego cheese dip sprinkled with pimientos and jalapenos. And the spiced chips! Oooh the spiced chips! These chips are actually good to munch on its own! But why would you when the dip is that good?
Hold on. This is making me crave for chips and dip. I'll just grab something from the kitchen.
I'm back! Moving on. This Gambas Al Ajillo (P375) was also delectable! I love shrimps! More so covered in garlic! These shrimps were firm and juicy. Not at all dry!
Next let's move on to the Paellas. This beautiful paella looks like it was made for Richie. It's just filled with so much meat! The Paella del Carne (Small: P480 / Medium: P715 / Large: P1,150)
is filled with chorizo, chicken, smoked bacon and pork spareribs!
However, my favorite was the Paella Valenciana (Small: Php560 / Medium: Php910 / Large: P1,480). The rice alone was filled with flavor! Then topped topped with clams, mussels, shrimps and chicken. This is the definitely a meal on its own!
Moving on, let's head on to the Bistecas. Alqueria's Prime Rib (P2,250) is a 420g black angus USDA choice grade steak! Soft and melts in your mouth!
And then finally the Lamb Chops (Half Rack: P1,310 / Full Rack: P2,380) which I helped the group finish. It's just so flavorful! I especially loved the thin sear crisps by the fat. Oooh la la! The lamb chops are actually from Ann Creek Farms, Australia.
And because life is short, we tried their desserts as well. Or what they call Postres.
Starting with their freshly made Churros Con Chocolate. Their churros area is right by the entrance which will really call out to you!
Tada! Churros goodness! I love the darkness of the Valor Chocolate Dip. Their churros are available in:
- 3pcs (Classic: Php138/Chocolate: Php158)
- 5pcs (Classic: Php158/Chocolate: Php198)
- 10pcs (Classic: Php228/Chocolate: Php298)
Next is the Pudin (P160). I love pudding and this is no exemption. Especially when it's ala mode! This Chocolate pudding is made from valor dark chocolates.
Manchego Cheesecake (Php230) is also a delicious take on a cheesecake. It's got melted manchego cheese and cream cheese! One of the group's favorite!
